Edmund Rice Formation Services
Christian
Brothers, St Mary’s Province
Edmund Rice Formation Services
is an initiative of the St Mary's Province of the
Christian Brothers (NSW-ACT-PNG).
It was established in 2003 as a
result of the need to amalgamate a number of
activities in St Mary's Province. Specifically,
Edmund Rice Formation Services offers targeted
personal, professional, spiritual, religious and
faith opportunities to people who are employed by,
volunteer for, and are associated with the Christian
Brothers and the Edmund Rice Network. The
programmes and services promote human and spiritual
development within the context of the Catholic faith
tradition. There is an emphasis on justice, both
social and environmental.
Programmes like the Called and
Gifted are facilitated by
Edmund Rice Formation Services.
The Edmund Rice Formation
Services Team comprises a Director and five
formation team members, who will collaborate with
other key Province personnel in relation to
formation needs. The team will work, primarily
across Sydney, Wollongong/Illawarra, Canberra and
the Central Coast. The team is also available to
work in the rural areas of NSW.
Edmund Rice Formation Services
has a commitment to:
Ø
fostering the
growth of the "whole human person".
Ø
identifying and
responding to the current and emerging formation
needs
of those who are connected with the Province.
Ø
justice for all of
God's creation.
Ø
responding to the
needs of those who are vulnerable in our society,
particularly young people and refugees.
Ø
promoting Christian
values and Catholic social teaching.
Ø
networking and
building partnerships with Church and other
community agencies.

This Ministry
conducts Retreats for senior secondary students, not
only from Christian Brothers schools but for many of
the Catholic schools spread across New South Wales.

Other programmes operate out of "Winbourne"
or extend to Sydney, Wollongong/Illawarra, Canberra
and the Central Coast and in rural areas of NSW.
The Edmund Rice Camp Movement is also located at Mulgoa which is the
venue for school holiday camps for young children who live in the marginalised part of our society. On average there are two to three camps held over each holiday period.
The two full time co-ordinators plan these camps from Mulgoa and lead and
train the young adults who generously volunteer their time each holiday period enabling both children and their parents to have some quality of life.
